Youths of Kom Cultural and Development Association (KOMCUDA) in Yaounde have reinforced their oneness and unity through football tournament This was during the finals of the tournament that took place on Agust 20 in Yaounde.
The occasion which was not only an opportunity to reunite with old friends and families, was also characterised by colourful exhibition of culture and dances. Bringing the feeling of home to the people away from home.
KOMCUDA'S Yaounde branch President recounted the driving force of the tournamen and he expressed satisfaction over the calm, solidarity and unity between participating teams and their officials.
Hear him, "This initiative does not only promote love, development and culture, it equally promotes talent, we are equally looking forward to building a strong team to represent the Division in other tournaments," he remarked.
The Personal representative of the Fon of Kom in Yaounde, Bobe Nsom Francis, while relaying the Fon's message to the crowd in a speech said, "The Fon welcomes you all to this occasion and salutes you all for staying together despite being away from home. I encourage the spirit of fair play during the matches."
The KOMCUDA Tournament which kickstarted on June 26 had 12 teams in the competition. 12 teams comprising of young football lovers from all over Kom land. The games were played in 3 groups of 4 teams each.
It was a tough run through the games. DDC of Belo defeated Bilingo 1-0 at semi-finals to qualify for the finals, meanwhile SAHA FC eliminated Fundong strikers with a single goal.
The finals of the tournament are remarkably a clash of Titans ( winners of the 2nd edition of the tournament from Belo Sub-division) against their brother team DDC FC. DDC's moral was however lowered after 2 goals in just first half of the match. The latter however secured one goal in the second half of the match.
The tournament that brought together over 3,000 Kom locals resident in Yaounde saw the victory of SAHA FC over Djichami Development Cooperation by 2:1.
The event was attended by tens of Koms' prominent elites ranging from the Mayor of Belo, Parliamentarian for Belo Njong and CEO of BEROCA, who has also provided the tournament's prizes.
Still as part of KOMCUDA's initiative to unite its people and integrate them in society, the association organised a fundraiser to provide back to school material for the needy in Yaounde.
