Prof Enoh Tanjong retires at 65


Prof Enoh Tanjong is a communication professor, journalism trainer, researcher, author, consultant and mentor. He is the founding president of the board of trustees of the ICT University. He has mentored and taught most of Cameroon's top ranking journalist and communicators from different media organs. Just as he considers the entire media crew as family, he has indeed been meaning a father.

He retires at the age of 65 after decades in service. His resignation from the University of Buea became active as of October 10th 2020. His resignation came after an ischemic stroke on April 9th 2019, Prof Enoh Tanjong is recovering after  seeking medical treatment abroad. Enoh as he loves to be called  did not resign because of his health but rather because he had reached the stipulated age for resignation.

Enoh Tanjong design the Bsc, Msc, Masters and PhD programs for the department of journalism and mass communication (JMC) for the university of Buea as well the Communication and development program for the university of the university of Bamenda Cameroon. 

This media model retired from UB but will continue to consult and keep himself busy with family.

Social intergration versus collective consciousness

How societies can maintain social intergration after the traditional bonds of family and church have been replaced by modern economic relations. French writer Emile Durkheim believed that a society exerted powerful force on individuals, an individuals norms, beliefs and values which make up collective consciousness or simply put; a shared way of understanding and behaving in the world. This collective consciousness binds people together thereby creating social intergration and is crucial in explaining the existence of society. At the same time, the collective consciousness is emitted by humans through their actions. Society is a social product created by individuals but which exerts back a social force on those same individuals. Collective consciousness helps humans understand that we all are humans and not some being animals.
